It’s Time!! This is our favorite time of year to highlight the amazing community of local shops and businesses in Des Moines, Iowa. We hope you get some good ideas for shopping local this Holiday season!
When you buy from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance. Plus, the impact it has on the local economy is huge! When making this gift guide we included our favorite local businesses, shops and makers. We are also taking the Fifteen Percent Pledge. What is this? It is a national campaign to encourage consumers to use your spending power and commit 15% of your holiday shopping to Black-owned brands. From their website: “The first step in making change in the world starts with taking stock of your own life. As a consumer, the dollars you spend every day have a huge impact on restaurants, retailers, brands, and small businesses.”
We took that to heart when making this gift guide and are proud to live in a community with so much to offer.
