Exciting improvements coming to Water Works Park!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Des Moines has some of the most AMAZING parks! And one of my favorites is on its way to becoming even better. Think Hyde Park in London or Central Park in New York…ok, maybe not quite as big, but equally as awesome!! Water Works Park is undergoing the first phase of the proposed improvements under its Master Plan. These improvements include an amphitheater, a ‘great’ lawn, celebration lawn, restrooms, a market place, natural play areas, outdoor classroom and more! Improvements are expected to be finished in May of next year.

Water Works Park has 1500 acres of beautiful green space right in the heart of Des Moines. In 2013, The Des Moines Water Works Park Foundation was formed to raise money and oversee the initiatives in the Master Plan – all with the vision of making Water Works Park a platform for recreation, education and cultural activities.
